Listings, citations and Google Business Profile work
A citation and profile audit across 16 directories and 10 “best of” lists, and a market scan of Bend trade businesses that graded 541 websites and found 23 busy Google listings with no website at all.
Citation and profile audit
Inside the HVAC audit, the listings work checked 16 directories and data sources for the business name, address and phone, and 10 “best of” lists for inclusion and position. Sources that block automated reads (several major review sites among them) were reported as unverified rather than guessed.
- Name, address and phone matched on almost every readable source. One directory had the wrong ZIP code.
- The directories ChatGPT reads mattered more than expected: its map showed a lower star rating than Google’s, and it repeated a founding year that only one directory had wrong.
- The Business Profile used a main category that did not match the company’s main line of work, and showed closed nights and weekends despite an emergency line. Main category and “open at time of search” rank #1 and #5 in Whitespark’s 2026 survey of local ranking factors.
- Chambers and best-of lists: missing from a chamber directory where several competitors were listed, and on some “best of” lists but not others. Each gap came with the specific ask.
Market scan: Bend trade businesses
A Python pipeline built to find where local SEO work would matter most, run across Bend trade and service businesses in October 2026:
- 320Google Maps listings from 12 trade searches (55 with no website)
- 541unique business domains graded by a site checker
- 60top candidates re-rendered in headless Chrome at phone size
- 23active Google listings with reviews but no website
- Discovery: 12 Google Maps searches (towing, excavation, concrete, septic, welding, auto body, tree service, fencing, paving, RV, garage doors and more) plus 1,225 OpenStreetMap businesses with a website, filtered to 534 service and trade kinds.
- Grading: each homepage checked for server-rendered word count, meta description, structured data, sitemap size, title and tap-to-call link, and scored for how thin it is.
- Verification: the top 60 rendered as a phone would see them, to separate genuinely thin pages from sites that build their content with JavaScript. Bot-walled sites, chains and franchises were excluded.
| Finding | Count | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Homepage under 200 words with no meta description | 11 | Too little on the page for Google or an AI engine to know what the business does or where. |
| Template title left in place (“Home”; one carried another company’s template name) | 5 | The title is the strongest on-page signal and the blue link customers click. |
| Dead, parked or suspended website behind a live Google listing | 4 | Every “Website” tap from Maps lands on an error or a hosting page. |
| Active Google listing with reviews and no website (several with more than 100 reviews) | 23 | Customers exist; nothing on the web answers their questions. |
| Unclaimed Google listing | 3 | Anyone can suggest edits; the owner cannot reply to reviews. |
The studio’s own profile
WildRun’s Google Business Profile is a verified service-area listing with the address hidden, as Google’s rules require for a business without a storefront. The website’s Organization schema links it through hasMap and sameAs and states the address at city level only. No review is shown anywhere on this site until a real customer leaves one.
